Benijo Beach remains officially closed to the public due to the risk of rockfalls from the slope next to the access stairs.
For safety reasons, visitors should not go down to the beach, remove the barriers, or ignore the warning signs. The closure is not related to sea conditions or water quality, but to the risk of falling rocks in the access area.
Why is Benijo Beach closed?
Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council ordered the precautionary closure in July 2024 after rockfalls were detected from the hillside next to the beach access.

When will Benijo Beach reopen?
There is currently no officially confirmed date for the reopening.
The City Council is continuing to process a project aimed at stabilising the slope and improving safety conditions. The reopening will depend on the completion of the administrative procedures and the necessary works.

Can you visit the Benijo area?
Although access to the beach itself remains closed, the surrounding areas of Anaga, Taganana and Almáciga are still well worth visiting for their spectacular scenery.
You can explore other beaches, viewpoints, restaurants and hiking trails in the area, always checking the current access conditions beforehand and respecting any signs and restrictions in place.
